2017 First Place at DAR Continental Congress

My husband, Gene and I have just returned from a spectacular week in Washington, DC while attending the 126th Continental Congress of the Daughters of the Revolution. I was awarded First Place in Watercolor in their American Heritage Competition; it was quite awesome and humbling.  Below are a few photos from the event.

You can read about my entry to the American Heritage Competition, – Moving Family Traditions Forward through Art.  I feel the required one-page essay helps to explain the art process well.

The Opening Night Ceremony was full of Pageantry, military band, and impressive guest speakers. The DAR owns about a full block at the National Mall; The DAR Library alone houses over 200,000 books of the American Revolution that for the most part are not yet digitized. I could have spent a week there alone. It was quite a trip!

The DAR is non-political; just Patriotic.
