September 29-30, 2014 Sicily

Today we travelled to the restored village of Mazara del Vallo. The guy on the bike was the mayor visiting his constituents. Unfortunately, it was Sunday so many of the shops were closed and some were disappointed they didn’t get to take care of their shopping gene.

Our last day, Andrew Blackfoot, an art historian, Sicilian artist and London theatrical designer, gave us a history tour of Silenunte. The afternoon was spent back at the inn with packing and finishing paintings ready for an exhibit of the week’s work and art critique. We all hated to see it end! What a wonderful week with great students and of course, Raffaele Nobile, who kept us laughing. He even sings in the minibus with a great tenor voice.
